MORRISTOWN — The National Weather Service in Morristown has issued a High Wind Warning for multiple East Tennessee counties, including Blount Smoky Mountains, Cocke Smoky Mountains, Johnson, Sevier Smoky Mountains, Southeast Carter, and Unicoi.
The warning is in effect from 8 p.m. Friday until 2 a.m. Sunday (EDT), with south winds of 25-40 mph and gusts up to 80 mph expected.
Damaging winds may down trees and power lines, causing widespread outages. Travel could be hazardous, especially for high-profile vehicles. Any ongoing wildfires may spread rapidly before heavy rains arrive Saturday night.
