TVA campgrounds reopen this weekend

The Tennessee Valley Authority’s seasonal campgrounds will reopen March 15.

Several of the campgrounds, including Douglas Tailwater, sustained significant damage during Hurricane Helene. TVA said crews worked all winter to repair damage so the facility could open for public use this spring.

TVA offers seasonal camping at the following sites:

– Cherokee Dam – Cherokee Dam Reservation in Jefferson City
– Douglas Dam Headwater – Douglas Dam Reservation near Sevierville
– Douglas Dam Tailwater – Douglas Dam Reservation near Sevierville
– Melton Hill Dam – Melton Hill Dam Reservation near Lenoir City
– Watauga Dam – Watauga Dam Reservation near Elizabethton
– Pickwick Dam – Pickwick Dam Reservation near Savannah

Each campground provides restrooms, potable water, showers, grills, picnic tables, RV dump stations and nearby boating and fishing access. Most campsites have electrical service, except for a few tent-only campsites.

The seasonal campgrounds will be open until Nov. 15.
