Update: one fatality in Roan Mountain crash Tuesday

The Tennessee Highway Patrol reports Elk Park, North Carolina resident Jessica Easterday, 28, was killed in Tuesday evening’s car crash in Roan Mountain.

The report says Easterday was traveling northbound on Highway 19E when her vehicle crossed the double yellow line and struck a tractor-trailer head-on, sending the truck partially off the road.

THP reports the wreck’s cause is still under investigation, though no charges have been filed at this time.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.
