Commissioners pay respects to Ronnie Trivett during commission meeting

During Monday night’s full commission meeting, commissioners took some time to share stories about and remember the life and legacy of the late Ronnie Trivett.

“Ronnie was my friend,” Ray Lyons said. “He served this county well. I think he always had his heart in the right place.”

Nancy Brown said he was a dear friend.

“He put his heart and soul into this commission,” she said. “He was here on nights he did not feel like being here.”

Randall Jenkins said Trivett was instrumental as a resource to him when he first began serving as a commissioner.

“I respect the crap out of him for showing me the ropes,” Jenkins said. “He nominated me for Rules and Bylaws.”

Charles Von Cannon said he took him under his wing, and he said Trivett was “a great guy.”

Ross Garland said Trivett was one of his closest friends.

“Ronnie meant a lot to me,” Garland said. “I did not get the chance to see him before he passed. That is something I am going to have a hard time moving past.”

Aaron Frazier said Trivett was the first person to shake his hand when he first took Lyons’ place at the Budget Committee when he was sick.

“The only regret I have is I did not get to talk to Ronnie,” he said. “I have spoken to Patty [Woodby], […] and she said he was sick. I said ‘I’ll call him on Monday.’ […] Don’t wait.”

Other commissioners had positive things to say about Trivett and their experiences with him.

The commission took a few minutes to hold a moment of silence and prayer for Trivett at the end of everyone’s stories.
