Mary Magdalene Taylor Phipps

Mary Magdalene Taylor Phipps, 73, of Piney Flats, Tenn., passed away suddenly on Wednesday, February 11, 2015, at Johnson City Medical Center.
Mrs. Phipps was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Gilbert and Okie Estep Taylor.
Mrs. Phipps retired as a secretary and was a member of Piney Flats First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Herb Phipps, of the home; two sons, Kevin Phipps and wife Laura, San Antonio, Texas, and Jay Phipps and wife Kelly, Washington, D.C.; a daughter, Sheila Carter and husband Wes, Morristown, Tenn.; eight grandchildren, Dustin, Cody, Cheyenne, Alexandria, Madison, Jacob, Justin and Tyler; two great-grandchildren, Isabell and Lilian; a sister, Roma Peters and husband Hampton Peters Jr., Elizabethton; and a brother, Jacob Taylor and wife Sylvia, Dougspur, Va.
A graveside service to honor the life of Mary Magdalene Taylor Phipps will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 15, In the Taylor Family Cemetery with Dr. Allen Davis officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton at 1:15 p.m. Sunday to go in procession.
