Ernestine Parris “Teen” Minton

Ernestine Parris “Teen” Minton, 85, of Elizabethton, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2015, at Pine Ridge Care Center following a brief illness.
Ernestine was born in Gary, W.Va., the daughter of the late David and Elizabeth Shatley Parris. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Shelby Minton, and three brothers, Densel, Kyle and Russell.
Mrs. Minton was a homemaker and a member of Hunter United Methodist Church. She enjoyed cooking, her flowers, her grandchildren and her cat.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Carolyn Minton, Elizabethton; a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa-Dawn Smith and her husband Lynn Smith, Elizabethton; her grandchildren, Jonathan Minton and wife Cassie, Elizabethton, Hollie Harris and husband Ric, Asheville, Neal Smith and Summer Grimmett, Elizabethton, and Shelby Smith, Elizabethton; and two great-grandchildren, Sydney Minton and Rylee Minton, both of Elizabethton.
A service to honor the life of Ernestine Parris “Teen” Minton will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, in the Fireside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Estel Williams officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service, or at any of the families’ homes at anytime. The graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, in the Morrell Cemetery on Sunrise Drive, Elizabethton. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles “Dude” LaPorte and his wife Darlene, and John and Rita Jenkins. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday to go in procession. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Pine Ridge Care Center for the love and care shown to Mrs. Minton during her illness.
