Anna Evelyn Lyons Tester

Anna Evelyn Lyons Tester, 98, of Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord, Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at Johnson City Medical Center surrounded by her family and her church family.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Sam D. and Sara Ellen Arnett Lyons.
Mrs. Tester was retired from the American Bemberg Corporation. She faithfully attended Zion Baptist Church, where she enjoyed worshipping with her church family. She was a member of First Church of God. She loved both church families.
Mrs. Tester loved working in her flowers and enjoyed sharing them with her friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Tester, in 1998; a son, Charles Tester; two sisters, Geneva Hubbard and Minnie McKeehan; and seven brothers, Harrison, Anderson, Joe, Edd, Alvin, Jack and Samuel Junior Lyons.
Survivors include her grandsons, Mike Tester and wife Lori, Clearwater, Fla., and Drew Tester and wife Jessica, Richmond, Va.; two great-grandchildren, Belle and Ruby; two sisters, Martha Fuller, Glendale, Ariz., and Mary Lou Graves and husband Godfrey, Murphy, N.C.; several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Wilma L. Hayes; her special friends, Shirley Cole, Tim McAmis, Gary Townsend, Mike’s mother, Ana Ruth Tester, and the mother of her grandchildren, Margarette Tester.
A service to celebrate the life of Anna Tester will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 2, at Zion Baptist Church with Dr. Alan King and Pastor Bob Shupe officiating. The graveside service and interment will be at noon Friday, July 3, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the church at 6:50 p.m. Thursday and also at the funeral home at 11:20 a.m. Friday, will be Kirk Hayes, Tim McAmis, Sam Lyons, Jerry Lyons, Shelby Lyons, Rick Hubbard and Bobby Babb. Honorary pallbearers will be her church family, Gary Townsend, Ralph Hyder, Caleb King and Kenneth Hayes. It was her request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Building Fund, Zion Baptist Church, 1982 Gap Creek Road, Elizabethton, TN 37643. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Zion Baptist Church. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 11:20 a.m. Friday to go to the cemetery.
