Business owner Bea Snyder plans to not only cut hair, but also the cost of getting children ready to go back to school.
Snyder, owner of Salon B in downtown Elizabethton, is offering free haircuts to students from pre-school to seniors in high school. She also extends the invitation to children in counties surrounding Carter County.
“It doesn’t matter where they live,” she said.
This isn’t the first time Snyder has offered this service to the public.
“I started out five years ago,” she said. “It started out on my front porch. Every year I got more and more people to come out.
Snyder, who has been a hairdresser for 32 years, is on a mission to make preparing children for a new year at school easier.
“My mission is to save families a little bit of money and help them feel good about themselves,” Snyder said. “We hear all the time about bullying and about kids with low self-esteem. I want to help them feel good about themselves.”
The event will take place Monday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., or until get everybody is served. Synder has three volunteers helping to serve the public. If there is not enough time to serve everyone, Snyder said she will consider hosting the event again the following Saturday.
The salon located at 109 N. Sycamore St. No appointments are necessary. For more information, call 647-0257.
