Bernice Jones Whitehead

Bernice Jones Whitehead, 87, passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2016, at Hillview Health Center.
She was born April 5, 1928 on Buck Mountain to the late Clarence H. Jones and Agnus Banner Jones.
Bernice had a passion and talent for cooking, canning and sewing. She loved her family dearly and was the ultimate example of kindness and patience, always serving others. She was a long-time member of the Elizabethton Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents, Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Whitehead; her daughters, Dorothy Smith and Sandra Wandell; a great-granddaughter, Sierra Waycaster; her sisters, Virginia Roberts and Dorothy Ruth Taylor; and a brother, Charlie Jones.
Survivors include her children, Ronda Whitehead, Carolyn Perry (Norman) and Wade Whitehead (Ellen); her grandchildren, Susan Whitehead, Jim Crowe, Amy Jones, Jana Perkins, Jason Whitehead, Toby Smith, Jody Smith and Josh Whitehead; her great-grandchildren, Brittnay Lawson, Brett Crowe, Beth Crowe, Hunter Jones, Tyler Perkins, Sydney Perkins, Madison Whitehead, Eli Whitehead, Abby Smith, Beau Smith, Dorothy Lane Smith, Shelby Whitehead and Sadie Whitehead; and her brother, Claude Jones (Dare).
Services will be conducted on Sunday, February 7, at Memorial Funeral Chapel, Elizabethton, with the family receiving friends from 1:30 to 3 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 3 p.m. Mr. Roby Ellis will be the minister officiating. Interment will be at Mountain Home National Cemetery at 10 a.m. Monday, February 8. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Monday to go to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons. The family would like to give a “Special Thank You” to the staff of Hillview Health Care for the care they gave to Mrs. Whitehead.
