With the annual Taste of Carter County less than a week away, the Elizabethton/Carter County Chamber of Commerce is looking for some additional volunteers to help make the big event a success.
This year’s Taste of Carter County is being sponsored by Security Federal Bank and will take place on Thursday, Sept. 29, from 5-7:30 p.m. at Elizabethton High School’s Citizens Bank Stadium. The Chamber is needing some volunteers to help out before, during and after the event.
Volunteers are needed to help with a variety of task, including set up, cleanup and assisting local restaurants and attendees during the course of the event.
“If they can get in touch with us we can put them where we need them,” said Elizabeth White with the Chamber of Commerce.
Members of the Elizabethton High School Athletic Parent Association and the Betsy Band Boosters are volunteering with the event as well as some staff members from Security Federal Bank, but White said additional volunteers are needed.
Each year, the Taste of Carter County serves to bring local restaurants together with the community for an evening of fun and food. The restaurants get the chance to showcase their delicious dishes to area residents who may not have given them a try before.
In addition to being an enjoyable event, the Taste of Carter County also serves as a fundraising tool for the Chamber of Commerce to help support local non-profit groups or agencies. This year, proceeds from the event will go to the Betsy Band Boosters and the Elizabethton High School Athletic Parent Organization, both of which support extracurricular programs at EHS.
With the purchase of a ticket, attendees get the chance to sample food from all the participating restaurants.
“I was going through the applications and there is going to be some good food there,” White said.
So far, the following local restaurants have signed up to take part in the event: Beef O’Brady’s, Bojangles, Chick-fil-A, City Market, Covered Bridge Cafe, Fatz Cafe, Ingles, Lakeo, Ole Barn Restaurant, Pizza Hut, Primo’s, Shirley’s, The Southern Restaurant, Sugar Love Bakery and Cafe, Tweetsie Treats, and Zaxby’s.
Tickets to the event are $20 and White said there are a limited number remaining available for purchase. Tickets can be purchased in a number of different ways.
“They can get their tickets here at the Chamber of Commerce or they can pay online at our website through PayPal,” White said. “Tickets are also available at Security Federal Bank or through the Elizabethton High School APO or Band Boosters.”
To sign up as a volunteer or for more information on the event, please contact the Chamber of Commerce at 423-547-3850. To order tickets online, visit the Chamber of Commerce’s website at www.elizabethtonchamber.com and click on “Taste of Carter County.”
