UPDATE: The Elizabethton/Carter County Chamber of Commerce announced this morning that due to the weather the Taste of Carter County event will be moved inside Elizabethton High School in the cafeteria.

Rain or shine… the Taste will go on.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Elizabethton/Carter County Chamber of Commerce announced a contingency plan for the annual Taste of Carter County event that will take place this evening at Elizabethton High School. The event is scheduled to run from 5 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.
The reason behind the contingency plan is the Taste is slated to be held inside Citizens Bank Stadium and the forecast is not looking friendly for an outdoor event.
“A contingency plan has been made for the event to take place inside the EHS cafeteria in the event of rain,” said Elizabethton/Carter County Chamber of Commerce Director Tonya Stevens. “A decision will be made Thursday morning and we will communicate out on our social media.”
Parking for the event — whether it is held indoors or outdoors — will be the student parking lot facing the stadium. In the event of rain and moving indoors ticket holders will enter from the gym entrance of the building.
“There may be a limited number of tickets available at the door, but the event sold out last year prior to opening so we strongly suggest tickets be bought ahead of time,” Stevens said. “Tickets can still be purchased on line at elizabethtonchamber.com .Those tickets will be available for pickup at the door.”
This year’s Taste of Carter County is being sponsored by Security Federal Bank. Proceeds from the event will go to benefit the Elizabethton High School Athletic Parent Association and the Betsy Band Boosters.
The following local restaurants have signed up to take part in the event: Beef O’Brady’s, Bojangles, Chick-fil-A, City Market, Covered Bridge Cafe, Fatz Cafe, Ingles, Lakeo, Ole Barn Restaurant, Pizza Hut, Primo’s, Shirley’s, The Southern Restaurant, Sugar Love Bakery and Cafe, Tweetsie Treats, and Zaxby’s.
