UHS principal: Class ‘exceeded expectations’

Saturday morning, members of the graduating class of Unaka High School will walk across the stage and begin the next chapter of their lives.
“This is a senior class that has worked hard and they have exceeded expectations,” said Unaka High School Principal Betsy Oliver.
The graduation ceremony for Unaka will be held at the high school on Saturday morning at 10 a.m.
Assistant Director of Schools Peggy Campbell, who is herself an almunus of Unaka High School, will deliver the commencement address.
Oliver said the graduation ceremony will also feature a performance by the school band, a slide show with photographs of the graduating class and a presentation by the Senior class officers: President Anthony Johnson, Vice President Mercedes Clendenin and Secretary Caitlin Campbell.
This year the senior class has four valedictorians: Marissa Williams, Michael Nave, Bridget Anderson and Jamie Erickson; and one Salutatorian, Anthony Johnson. All four of this year’s valedictorians can boast of a perfect 4.0 grade point average.
The top 10 percent of the senior class consists of: Marisa Williams, Michael Nave, Bridget Anderson, Jamie Erickson, Anthony Johnson and Jamie Morely.
