Police say a man they were trying to serve with warrants tried to elude them on Friday.
Bradley Aaron Mizzell, 23, 106 Alexander St., Hampton, was arrested Friday afternoon and charged with evading arrest. He was served with two warrants charging him with failure to appear in court.
According to an arrest report filed by Elizabethton Police Department Cpl. Doug Combs, he was monitoring traffic on North Lynn Avenue Friday when a gray sedan passed by in which Mizzell was a passenger.
Combs said he was familiar with Mizzell and believed there were warrants for his arrest, which he confirmed after checking with the Carter County Sheriff’s Department.
He made contact with Mizzell in the McDonald’s parking lot on Broad Street and asked him for his information.
According to Combs, Mizzell said his identification was inside the vehicle. He then fled on foot, Combs wrote, heading toward East Cottage Avenue.
He was apprehended on West Mill Street.
When officers returned to the parking lot, they discovered the driver had locked the vehicle and fled the parking lot. Combs said it was then discovered the driver of the vehicle has a suspended license and a warrant has been issued for her arrest.
