Imagine there’s a birthday.
It’s easy if you’re in town Aug. 27.
After months of anticipation, the Carter County Imagination Library has finalized plans for participating in the state Imagination Library’s 10th birthday celebration.
The Carter County celebration will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 27, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
CCIL Chair Lilo Duncan said the celebration would include a short sidewalk parade of Head Start and preschool students from the city and county schools, along with children who will be attending the Elizabethton/Carter County Public Library’s reading time.
“There will be around 200 children in the parade,” Duncan said. “We will start around Carter County Bank and will go around the corner to Edward’s Island park.”
The children in the parade will be carrying posters they have decorated themselves showing the covers of their favorite books.
Once the children make it to the park, they will be treated to a birthday party for the state Imagination Library and can explore the state Imagination Library Party Bus.
The state’s Party Bus will make stops in all 95 counties in Tennessee to celebrate the start of the Imagination Library program.
The program provides a free book each month for children from birth until they turn 5.
