Chris Huskins, 43, of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at his residence.
Chris was born in Johnson City, a son of “Woody” Ray Huskins Jr. and Vickie Lee Huskins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lucille and Shirrell Street and Evelyn and Wendell Alison; his uncle, John Alison; and his special cousins, Michael Street and Becky Cannon.
Chris was an employee of A.Y. McDonald in Elizabethton and attended Fellowship Community Church. He loved to explore, hike, prospect for gold and work with, and listen to, HAM radio. He was a United States Army veteran, having served with the Air Borne Screaming Eagles.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his aunts and uncles, Mike and Sharon Street and Sherry and Raymond McIntosh, all of Elizabethton, Suzanne Crouch, Mauldin, S.C., Lee and Larry Loudy and Jennings and Shanna Alison, all of Jonesborough. Several nieces and nephews also survive, along with a special friend, Patty.
A service to honor the life of Mr. Huskins will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 24, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Ken Hauser officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service, or at the residence of his mother and father, 103 North 3rd Street in Watauga, at anytime. The graveside service will be conducted at 1:45 p.m. Friday, July 25, at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard. Active pallbearers will be Mike Street, Raymond McIntosh, Chad Street, Darion Street, Scott McIntosh and Bryson Street. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, at 12:45 p.m. Friday to go in procession.
