Jack Taylor Stalcup

Jack Taylor Stalcup, 75, of Butler, passed away Thursday, July 24, 2014, at Life Care Center of Elizabethton.
A native of Johnson County, he was a son of the late James Ray and Ova Pleasant Stalcup.
Jack was a 1956 graduate of Johnson County High School. He served in the United States Army. He was a retired farmer and Millwright.
Jack was a member of Little Doe Baptist Church. He was an avid golfer and a Baltimore Orioles fan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Lowell Stalcup.
Survivors include one aunt, Ona Gentry Long, Butler; several cousins, including a special cousin and caregiver, David Pleasant and his wife Sandra Pleasant; and his extended family, Brandon Stalcup and Mitzi Michelle Pierce.
Funeral services for Mr. Stalcup will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 27, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Kreg Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Butler Memorial Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 2:50 p.m. Sunday, will be Chris Pleasant, Scott Pleasant, Truett Pleasant, Justin Pleasant, Boyd Ward, Howard Stout, Jesse Arnett and Sid Smithdeal. Honorary pallbearers will be Dick Pleasant, William Lowe, Carroll Meredith, his golfing buddies and members of the 1956 graduating class of Johnson County High School. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Julie Stanley and Sandra Pleasant, John L. and Doris Dugger, Trula Haley, Sid Smithdeal, members of Little Doe Baptist Church, the staff of Amedisys Home Health Care, the staff of Life Care Center of Elizabethton and the staff of James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Condolences may be e-mailed to mfc@chartertn.net.
