Sharon Kim Townsend, 57, of Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord, Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
She was born in Washington County, a daughter of the late Aaron George and Elizabeth Lowe Feathers. She had lived her entire life in Carter County.
Sharon was a 1975 graduate of Happy Valley High School. She was a LPN at Johnson City Medical Center for 37 years and was employed in the Operating Room as an Anesthesia Technician.
Sharon was a member of the Range Community Christian Church, where she had served as pianist and was involved in special Missions and Sunday School.
Survivors include her husband of 36 years, Gary D. Townsend; two sons and daughters-in-law, Matt and Jessica Townsend and Garett and Emily Townsend, all of Elizabethton; a sister, Debbie Whaley and her husband Randy, Watauga; several aunts, uncles and cousins; her brother-in-law, Mike Townsend and his daughter, Brianna Bowman; a very special friend, Debbie Miller; and her special Black Dog, “Gracie.
A Service to Celebrate the Life of Sharon Townsend will be conducted at 8 p.m. Saturday, August 2, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. Glenn Keller, Mr. Randy Overdorf and Mr. Ken Overdorf, ministers, officiating. Music will be provided by Kathy Fagan. Graveside services and interment will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, August 3, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 12:20 p.m. Sunday, will be Mike Townsend, Tim Buck, J.K. Perkins, Randy Decker, Devin Pierson and Brad Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Dale Potter, Lawton Saylor, Paul Miller, Thomas Miller, Bob Hughes, Shube Estep, Earl Neikirk and Hunter Pierson. The family would like to express a very special “Thank You” to the following: the staff of ICU and the Second Floor at Sycamore Shoals Hospital, Dr. Brown, Dr. Starr, Dr. Rachel Monderer, the staff of Union Prescription, her aunt, JoAnn Edmondson, Linda and Sara Johnson, Marisa Potter, Shirley Cole, Vicki Torbett, June Honeycutt and all her co-workers and friends for their visits, prayers and cards that were sent during her illness. Farris Road, Greenville, SC 29605. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at her residence.
