Jo Ann Buckles

Jo Ann Buckles, 77, of Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, August 7, 2014, at Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness.
She was the daughter of the late Newland and Virginia McKinney and was born in Avery County, N.C. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Lonnie Guy, and a brother, James Ramsey.
Mrs. Buckles was a homemaker who loved to cook and spend time with her grandchildren and other family. She was of the Holiness Faith.
Survivors include five daughters, Sylvia Garland and her husband, Richard, Donna Gibson and her husband, Johnny, Brenda Presnell, Linda Gibson and her husband, Dale, all of Elizabethton, and Mary Honeycutt and her husband, Jason, Roan Mountain; four sons, Bobby Guy and his wife, Judy, Mike Guy, all of Johnson City, Jeff Guy and his wife, Kim, Elizabethton, and Gary Guy and his wife, Diane, Johnson City; a sister, Evelyn Massey and her husband, Frank, Morganton; N.C.; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and her former husband, Bruce Buckles, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A funeral service for Mrs. Buckles will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, August 11, in the Chapel of Peace, Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Mack Presnell officiating. Music will be under the direction of Rev. Mack Presnell, the Fork Mountain Trio and Sue Stiltner. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, prior to the service, and at the home of her daughter, Brenda Presnell, 2309 Davis Hollow Road, Elizabethton, at other times. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 12, in the Markland Cemetery, Roan Mountain. Active pallbearers will be Nathaniel Gibson, Harvey Gibson, D.J. Puckett, Willard Honeycutt, Jimmy Honeycutt, Michael Hardin, Curtis Coffey and Anthony Tackett. Honorary pallbearers will be her sons-in-law and daughters-in-law, great-grandchildren and the staff of Pine Ridge Care and Rehabilitation Center. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1 p.m. Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
