Edith “Nan” Coefer

Edith “Nan” Coefer 80, of Watauga, Tenn., passed away at her residence on Friday, August 8, 2014.
She was the daughter of the late Bill and Ollie Shipley Massengill and was born in Carter County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Michael Sochalski.
Mrs. Coefer was a devoted wife and loving mother. Nan touched many lives and was loved by many.
Mrs. Coefer worked in food service all her life and was a retired manager from Eastside Elementary School. She was an avid bingo player and so loved the time spent with Jenny, Sue and Helen playing bingo.
Mrs. Coefer is survived by her husband of 64 years, Sammie A. Coefer; two sons, Sammie Coefer Jr. and Jenny Ramey and Jimmy E. Coefer and wife, Debbie; two daughters, Loretta Ratti and husband, Vince, and Debbie Sochalski and husband, Steve; nine grandchildren, Heather DiBlassio, Jason Coefer, Will Coefer, Andrew Coefer, Crystal Busse, Vincent Ratti, Steven Sochalski, Jeremy Sochalski and Daniel Sochalski; and seven great-grandchildren, Sydney Coefer, Sabrina Busse, Jacob Busse, Gavin Sochalski, Caitlyn Sochalski, Kylar Sochalski and Jayce Sochalski.
Mrs. Coefer will be cremated as per her wishes. The family will hold a Celebration of Life service at Mountain View Church, 1915 Bristol Highway, Watauga, Tenn., on Saturday, August 16, at 12 p.m. with Teddy Muncey officiating.
