Melba Miller Gouge

Melba Miller Gouge, 62, of Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord, Friday, August, 15, 2014, at her residence.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Mack Miller and Hazel Guinn Miller Wilson.
Melba was a 1970 graduate of Hampton High School. She was a homemaker and a former employee of Snap-on Tool. She was a member of Union Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Wilma Brewer and Georgia Powell.
Survivors include her husband of 30 years, Paul Gouge; two children, Azure and Chris Gouge; her very special granddaughter, Mikena Blackwell; three brothers, Harlan Hill, Roy Miller and Steve Miller; and a sister, Anita Jilton.
A service to celebrate the life of Melba Gouge will be conducted at 7 p.m. Sunday, August 17, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Brandon Young officiating. Music will be provided by D.L. Hopson. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Melba to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908 or the American Cancer Society, c/o Lou Cooter, 415 Washington Avenue, Elizabethton, TN 37643. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Dr. Donette Vicente and the staff of Mountain States Regional Cancer Center for the excellent care that Melba received.
