Evelyn Lipford, 71, of Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, August 21, 2014, at Johnson City Medical Center.
Mrs. Lipford was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late Roger Radford Sr. and Dorothy Culler Radford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Allen Radford.
Mrs. Lipford was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she enjoyed attending Sunday School Class. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, who lit up her life.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Bob Lipford, of the home; a daughter, Tonya Jeffers and husband Jeff, Elizabethton; a son, Jeff Lipford, Watauga; grandchildren, Travis Jeffers and wife Sara, Weston Jeffers and fiancée Ryann Musick, Knoxville, Jacob Lipford and Laci Lipford, both of Elizabethton; two brothers, Roger Radford Jr. and wife Gloria, Johnson City, and Kenneth Radford and wife Jane, Elizabethton; and a sister-in-law, Janet Radford of North Carolina.
A service to honor the life of Mrs. Lipford will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 23, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Joe Sorah officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from noon until 2 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service. The graveside service will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Travis Jeffers, Weston Jeffers, Eugene Radford, Temmy Roberts, Doug Vandeventer, Randy Radford, Bruce Radford, Ronnie Radford and Gary Wallace. Honorary pallbearers will be Jacob Lipford, Herman Parker, Dr. Brian Way, Dr. Charles Famoyin and the staff of the Johnson City Medical Center, 4th floor. The family would like to extend a special thank you to her best friend and sister-in-law, Geraldine Vandeventer, Jennifer Lipford, Louise McQueen, Darlene Williams, Vickie Vandeventer, Sherry Carmichel, Debbie Stout, Shirley Jeffers, Martha Epperson, Robin Markland and the neighbors of C Street.
