David Sherrill Honeycutt

David Sherrill Honeycutt, 70, of Elizabethton, passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2014, at the residence of his girlfriend, Thelma Grindstaff, following an extended illness.

Mr. Honeycutt was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Robert and Juanita Shepherd Honeycutt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Bumgardner Honeycutt; a brother, Ronald Honeycutt; and his beloved dog, “Angel.”
Mr. Honeycutt was a graduate of Elizabethton High School and was a contractor. He was of the Christian faith and enjoyed horseback riding and western movies.
Survivors include a brother, Bobby Honeycutt, Hampton; a sister, Diane Honeycutt Edens and husband Jim Ed, Elizabethton; his girlfriend, Thelma Grindstaff, of the home; a special niece, Kim Edens-Bailey, Elizabethton; special friends, Jerry Reed, Larry Andes and Harold Range; a special friend of Thelma, Joann Reed; all of his neighbors; and a son, David Arnold “Thumper” Murphy, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Walters and the nursing staff in the ICU at Sycamore Shoals Hospital for all the love and care given to Mr. Honeycutt during his illness.
