Twins capture West Division championship

The Elizabethton Twins secured their 10th Appalachian League West Division championship in the last 15 years, thanks to a wild 13-6 come-from behind win over the Kingsport Mets Thursday.
The victory sent the Twins to a 38-29 record and Elizabethton will travel to Johnson City to start the playoffs on Sunday. No matter Friday’s results and how the Cardinals’ game with Greeneville Thursday turned out, the Twins would still own the league lead. However, before that the Twins will play Kingsport in the regular-season finale today with a 3 p.m. scheduled first pitch. Elizabethton’s last West Division championship, came in 2012 which led to an Appalachian League championship.
