Patsy Louise Stanley

Patsy Louise Stanley, 78, of Roan Mountain, went home to celebrate her birthday with the Lord on Thursday, August 28, 2014, at Roan Highlands Nursing Center, following an extended illness.
Patsy was born on August 27, 1936, in Avery County, N.C., a daughter of the late Bert Greer and the late Emma Smith Greer Gouge. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Bert Stanley; a granddaughter, Aimee Street; a grandson, Austin Heaton; and a brother, Wilbur Greer.
Mrs. Stanley graduated from Cloudland High School and was a homemaker. She taught Sunday School and Bible School at Burbank Free Will Baptist Church, and was a member of Sunset Free Will Baptist Church since 1987. She loved to sing, play piano, quilt and cook.
Patsy was a good neighbor and was loving and kind to all she met.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, whom she married on December 24, 1952, Kenneth Stanley, of the home; two daughters, Kenny Lou Heaton and husband Larry, Roan Mountain, and Carole Archer, Johnson City, and Stacey Archer, Roan Mountain ; a daughter-in-law, Karen Stanley, Roan Mountain; her grandchildren, Nick Street and wife Celia, Johnson City, Derek Stanley, Elizabethton, Erica Crouse and husband Billy of Louisiana, Dustin and Damon Heaton, Roan Mountain; a great-grandchild, Samuel Street, Johnson City; a step-sister, Draper Heaton; two brothers, Rudy Greer, Greenville, S.C., and Bob Gouge and wife Ginger, Dallas, Texas; and a special sister, Judy Presnell.
A service to honor the life of Mrs. Patsy Louise Stanley will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 30, in the Rhododendron Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Roan Mountain, with Rev. Terry Richardson and Rev. Gary Whitehead officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mr. Joe Honeycutt. The family will receive friends from noon until 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Saturday, or at the residence at anytime. The graveside service will follow in the Stanley Cemetery in Roan Mountain. Active pallbearers will be Nick Street, Derek Stanley, Randy Presnell, Ethan Gouge, Adam Heaton and Stacey Archer. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Sunset Free Will Baptist Church. The family would like to express special appreciation to Silver Angels: Pat Hopson, Dori Johnson, Helen Blevins and the staff of Roan Highlands Nursing Center for all the love and care shown to Mrs. Stanley during her illness.
