Dallas Hughes

Dallas Hughes, 71, of Watauga, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August, 28, 2014, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
A native of Lebanon, Va., he was the son of the late William and Mary Ann Puckett Hughes.
Mr. Hughes was a United States Army Veteran, serving in the Vietnam War. He was a member of River of Life Baptist Church, Piney Flats.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Self; two brothers, Robert and Kenneth Hughes; and a grandson, Bryan Hughes.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Helen Hughes, of the home; children, Melissa Fredericks and husband, George, Elizabethton, April Hughes and husband, Michael Townsend, Morristown, Betty Smith and husband Brian, Teresa Sams and husband Randy, and David Hughes, all of Elizabethton; two sisters, Diana Thomas and husband Waymond, Bluff City, and Eva Hensaw and husband Herbert, Waynesboro, Va.; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A Military Graveside and Inurnment for Dallas Hughes will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, September 5, at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery at 9:45 a.m. Friday. Honorary pallbearers are Chance Hughes, Brian Smith, Michael Townsend, Randy Sams, George Fredericks, Logan Powers and Waymond Thomas. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to his wife, Helen Hughes.
