Frances W. Stewart, 84, of Butler, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
She was born in Carter County, the daughter of the late William and Estella Timbs Whaley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mack Stewart; a son, Tom Stewart; and six brothers.
Mrs. Stewart was a homemaker and enjoyed playing her keyboard, growing flowers, and watching the wildlife in her yard.
Survivors include a daughter, Karen Maxine Woody and husband Robert of Newland, N.C.; a son, Terry Stewart, of the home; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Barbara Finney.
A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Frances W. Stewart will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, September 5, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Nick Bradshaw officiating. The family will receive friends from noon until 1:45 p.m., prior to the service. The graveside service and interment will be conducted in Butler Memorial Cemetery following the service on Friday. Active pallbearers will be Jack Hughes, Randy Whaley, James Whaley, Ricky Finney, Chuck Finney, David Arnold and Robert Woody. The honorary pallbearer will be Bobby Finney.
