A Carter County man and woman are facing additional charges after police say the pair tried to flee from officers serving warrants for their arrest.

Chadwick Rambo, 35, 132 Creekbank Road, was arrested Wednesday afternoon by Carter County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Nick Andes and Deputy Myles Cook on a warrant out of General Sessions Court charging him with violation of probation and an contempt attachment out of Juvenile Court. He was also charged with resisting arrest and the sale of Schedule III drugs.
Chelsea Maupin, 26, 108 Kimberly Lane, was arrested by Andes and Cook on a warrant out of General Sessions Court charging her with violation of probation and another warrant out of Criminal Court charging her with violation of probation.
According to a report by Andes, officers went to the home on Creek Bank Road and spoke to the resident. Andes said he told the woman he had outstanding warrants for both Rambo and Maupin and that she consented to allow officers into the residence to make the arrests.
Both Rambo and Maupin were taken into custody and handcuffed, Andes said, adding he and Cook then escorted the pair outside to wait for another police cruiser to transport the pair to jail.
Cook said that while officers were waiting for the other vehicle to arrive, Rambo ran down Creek Bank Road and Cook began to pursue him on foot.
“I chased Mr. Rambo approximately 75 yards, until he changed direction and jumped into Stoney Creek,” Cook said. “I pursued Mr. Rambo into the river and eventually was able to regain control of Mr. Rambo.”
Andes said moments after Rambo began to run away from officers, Maupin also attempted to flee, running toward the area of the creek across the road from the residence.
“I was able to catch up with Ms. Maupin in the creek where she struggled for a short time and eventually gave up and submitted to apprehension,” Andes said.
The two were then escorted back to the home where they were detained until another officer arrived on the scene to transport them to the jail.
Maupin is being held at the Carter County Detention Center without bond on the two charges of violation of probation. Her bond was set at $1,000 on the resisting arrest charge. She is scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on Oct. 24.
Rambo is being held at the Carter County Detention Center without bond on the violation of probation charge. He has a bond of $500 cash on the contempt charge; a $1,000 bond on the resisting arrest charge; and a $15,000 bond on the charge of sale of Schedule III drugs. He is also scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on Oct. 24.
