Gladys Sneyd Stout

Gladys Sneyd Stout, 79, of Hampton, passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2014, at her residence, following a brief illness.
Gladys was born in Unicoi, Tenn., a daughter of the late Dave and Mary Campbell Sneyd. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Simerly; her second husband, Bruce Stout; her third husband, Clarence Baxley; two sisters; five brothers; and two infant brothers.
Mrs. Stout had worked as a cook and was of the Christian faith. She enjoyed quilting.
Survivors include two sisters, Myrtle Roberts, Elizabethton, and Caroline Stevens, Johnson City; two brothers, Pleasey Sneyd, Unicoi, and Carl Sneyd and wife Thelma, Johnson City; and one special niece, Dora Moffitt, Unicoi. Several other nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to honor the life of Mrs. Stout will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 16, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Arnold Hensley officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mr. CJ Roberts, soloist. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service. The graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 17, in the Sneyd Family Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearer will be Gladys’s neighbor, Jerry Smalling. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 12:50 p.m. Wednesday.
