Iola M. Shepherd

Iola M. Shepherd, 92, formerly of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 15, 2014, in Huntsville, Ala.
She was a daughter of the late William and Dewey Dempsey McKinney and was born in Bluff City. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William D. Shepherd; granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann Shamblin; and brothers, Johnny McKinney, Billy McKinney and William P. McKinney Jr.
Mrs. Shepherd worked as a Nurse’s Aide and enjoyed quilting, needlepoint and sewing. Later in life she enjoyed her puzzle books. She was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and worked in the nursery. She will always be loved and greatly missed.
Survivors include a daughter, Ann Shepherd of Johnson City; son, William “Danny” Shepherd and wife Maria of Huntsville, Ala.; sister, Betty Manning of Bluff City; grandchildren, Richard Daniel Shepherd, Brandy Nicole Adams, William Delbert “B.J.” Shamblin and Margarita Rousseau Freeman; and great-grandchildren, Macaleb Jordan Moore, Keyshaun Adams, Justin Rousseau, Nathan Rousseau and Anabeth Grace Freeman. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, September 19, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton. The funeral service to honor and celebrate the life of Mrs. Shepherd will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 20, at Calvary Baptist Church, Elizabethton, with Dr. Joe Sorah officiating. The graveside service and interment will follow in Morning View Cemetery, Bluff City. Active pallbearers will be Daniel Shepherd, McCalob Moore, Keyshaun Adams, Jeff Ray, B.J. Shamblin and Dean Ray.
