Plez Eugene Potter

Plez Eugene Potter, 75, of Elk Park, N.C., passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2014, at his home.
A native of Avery County, he was the son of the late John and Stella Turbyfill Potter.
Mr. Potter was a retired landscaper.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Betty Ann Potter; three sisters, Cassie Bruton, Lillie Belle Clawson and Lucille Holtsclaw; and a brother, William “Jay” Potter.
Survivors include his three daughters, Linda Stevens and husband Tony of Roan Mountain, Patricia Shook and husband Eddie of Newland, N.C., and Diana Potter of Roan Mountain; a son, Derek James Hopson of Knoxville; six grandchildren, Jessica Rahn and husband Greg of Burnsville, N.C., Jennifer Burleson of Bakersville, N.C., Maranda Nussbaum and husband Brian of Raleigh, N.C., Jonathan Harrison of Roan Mountain, Joshua Harrison of Roan Mountain, and Nicole Birchfield and husband Brandon of Roan Mountain; eight great-grandchildren, Syvanna, Vanessa, Elijah, Tucker, Charity, Destiny, Kaydence and Devon; three sisters, Ruth Ann Hanson of Roan Mountain, Hazel Carpenter of Saw Mills, N.C., and Choy Davis of Elk Park, N.C.; and a brother, Jerry Potter and wife Carolyn of Elk Park, N.C. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to honor the life of Plez Eugene Potter will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 30, in the Rhododendron Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Roan Mountain, with Rev. Jim Storie officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the funeral service. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 1, in the Blackwell Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
