Sundra Melisa Campbell, 34, of Elizabethton, Tenn., passed away Saturday, September 27, 2014, at Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness.
Born in Avery County, N.C., she had lived all of her life in Carter County, Tenn., and was the daughter of Dianah Jones Richardson and step-father Brian Richardson, Elizabethton, and the late David C. Campbell.
Ms. Campbell had worked at the Community Daycare Center and was a member of Dungan Chapel Baptist Church.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Leola Campbell and Thelma Jones.
Survivors, in addition to her mother and step-father, include her precious daughter, Ryleigh Campbell, of the home; a brother, David Campbell and his wife Jessica, Elizabethton; two grandfathers, Henry Jones, Roan Mountain, Tenn., and James Richardson and his wife Kathy, Elizabethton; a niece, Chloe Campbell, Elizabethton; and a special aunt, Beth Jones, Elizabethton. Several other aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
A service to honor the life of Sundra Melisa Campbell will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 30, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Eric Heaton officiating. Music will be under the direction of Dungan Chapel Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the funeral service, or at the residence of her mother, Dianah Richardson, at other times. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 1, in the Winters Cemetery, Roan Mountain, Tenn. Active pallbearers will be Tommy Jones, David Jones, Ben Barlow, Rick Guinn, Scott Hughes, Brian Loveless, Robbie Foster, Chad Guinn and Derrick Guinn. Honorary pallbearers will be David Woods, Chris Wilson, Joe Buckles, James Morley, Scott Estep, Jacob Blackburn, Denny Grindstaff and the men of Dungan Chapel Baptist Church. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday for the service. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to East TN Christian Home and Academy, P.O.
