James McNeal, 67, of Elizabethton, passed away on Friday, October 3, 2014, at his residence.
Mr. McNeal was born in Elizabethton to the late Floyd and Martha Garland McNeal.
Mr. McNeal has worked as a car dealer and attended Fellowship Community Church in Watauga.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis McNeal, of the home; two daughters, Tammy Moffatt and husband James, and Judy Campbell, all of Elizabethton; one son, Jamie McNeal and wife Brenda, Elizabethton; Breanna Murphy, whom he thought of as a daughter; three granddaughters, Tiffany Moffatt, Jessica Campbell and Kayla Moffatt; two grandsons, Joey Campbell and Gary Murphy; three brothers, Johnny McNeal, Dayton McNeal and Larry McNeal, all of Elizabethton; and one sister, Shirley Johnson, Elizabethton.
A service to honor the life of James McNeal will be conducted at 7 p.m. Sunday, October 5, at Fellowship Community Church, 430 E. 4th Street, Watauga, Tenn., with Mr. McNeal’s special friend, Ken Hauser, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Rick Sweeney. The family will receive friends at the church from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, prior to the service. The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, October 6, in the Scalf Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Joey Campbell, Paul Faulkner, Carter “Boyd” Smith, Eddie Cross, Gary Murphy, Allen King, Jessica Campbell, Tiffany Moffatt and Victoria Campbell. Honorary pallbearers will be L.J. Birchfield, John Kemp and Larry Scalf. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Fellowship Community Church at 10:30 a.m. Monday to go in procession. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers, may make donations to Tetrick Funeral Home, 211 N. Riverside Drive, Elizabethton, TN 37643, to help with final expenses.
