Carrie Elizabeth Dunn Carley

Carrie Elizabeth Dunn Carley, 87, of Elizabethton, passed away Tuesday, October 7, 2014, at Hermitage Health Center.
A native of Watauga County, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Russell and Allie Bowers Calloway. She had lived most of her life in Carter County.
Mrs. Carley was retired from Denise Lingerie. Following her retirement she was employed at Wetzel Cleaners.
Mrs. Carley was a member of Pleasant Beach Baptist Church. Her hobbies were sewing and working in her flowers.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond Dunn; her second husband, Charles Carley; and two brothers, Junior and Paul Calloway.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Danny Smith, Elizabethton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Tina Dunn and Kenneth and Rowena Dunn, all of Elizabethton; and three sisters, Ina Mae Campbell and husband Alf and Charlotte Crumley and husband Herman, all of Elizabethton, and Gladys Peeks of North Carolina. Seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Carley will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, October 9, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Daniel Dunn and Dr. James Richardson officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at 10 a.m. Friday, October 10, in the Pearl Bowers Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 9:20 a.m. Friday, will be Jeffery Crumley, Herman Crumley, Daniel Dunn, David Dunn, Mark Smith and Timothy Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be her church families of Pleasant Beach Baptist Church and Trinity Baptist Church. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of Hermitage Health Center, the staff of Mountain States Hospice and Dr. Vivian Clark. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 9:20 a.m. Friday to go to the cemetery.
