Wanda Stout, 66, of Roan Mountain, passed away on Monday, Nov. 3, 2014, at her residence.
Mrs. Stout was born in Banner Elk, N.C., a daughter of the late William and Lillie “Mae” Winters Stafford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Tom Stout; two brothers, Eugene Stafford and William Stafford Jr.; and a stepdaughter, Martha Shook.
Mrs. Stout was retired from Roan Highlands Nursing Center and was a member of Evergreen Freewill Baptist Church. She had participated on a mission trip to Jamaica with her church and was a children’s Sunday School teacher during Vacation Bible School.
Survivors include three sons, Gregory Stout and wife Rebecca, Watauga, Charlie Stout Jr., Hampton, and Lincoln Stout, of the home; two stepsons, Raymond Stout and wife Teresa, Roan Mountain, and Richard Stout and wife Becky, Hickory, N.C.; two stepdaughters, Charlotte Davis, Hickory, N.C., and Sue Roberts, Roan Mountain; her stepdaughter, Martha’s, husband, Larry Shook; one brother, Glen Stafford, Winston-Salem, N.C.; three grandchildren, Lily Stout, Jolene Stout and Elizabeth Allen Stout; and three stepgrandchildren, Sandra Kinsella, April White and Angela Arnett.
A service to honor the life of Mrs. Stout will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, in the Rhododendron Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Roan Mountain, with Pastor John Henry McCoury and Pastor Jerry McCoury officiating. Music will be under the direction of Greg Odom, soloist. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service. The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 6, at Freeman Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Thursday. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to Evergreen Free Will Baptist Church, 120 Morgan Branch Road, Roan Mountain, TN 37687.
