Becky Cable, 87, of Watauga, passed away Monday, November 3, 2014, at Hermitage Health Center.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late James and Julie Linville Roop.
Mrs. Cable was a retired employee of Tennessee Chair Factory. She loved to crochet and quilt. She was a member of Dungan Chapel Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cameron Cable; a step-daughter, Wanda Kilgore; and two brothers, Charlie and Bill Roop.
Survivors include her daughters, Diane Cable, and companion, Mike Ward, Watauga, Susie Combs, Johnson City, and Lucy Babb, Limestone; a son, Clyde Roop, Elizabethton; her grandchildren, including a special granddaughter, Amy Harrell, also Susie Rutledge, Raymond Roop, Billy Combs, Ray Combs and Jennifer Treadway; a great-granddaughter, Emma Grace Rutledge; her sisters, Bessie Davis, Ethel Cole and Letha Triplett; a brother, David Linville; several nieces and nephews; her special friends, Marie Oxendine and Linda Glover; and her special friend and roommate, Dorothy Merritt.
Funeral services for Mrs. Cable will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday, November 5, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Dr. James Richardson and the Rev. Eric Heaton officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, November 6, in the Garland Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Thursday, will be Mike Ward, John Fletcher, Tom Oxendine, Granville Taylor, Dallas Williams and Frank Richardson. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of Hermitage Health Center. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at her residence. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Thursday to go to the cemetery.
