William James Ashley

William James Ashley, 66, 705 N. Main Street, Elizabethton, passed away Monday, November 3, 2014, at James H. Quillen V.A. Medical Center.
He was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Jarvis and Mary Kate Hatcher Ashley.
Mr. Ashley was a veteran, having served his country in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He worked many years with Leo’s Pest Control.
Mr. Ashley was a Baptist by faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Master Sergeant Charles A. Smith.
Survivors include a son, Scott Ashley, of the home; a sister, Carlene Silliman, Kingsport; four nephews, Michael Smith, Sacramento, Calif., Doug Smith and Keith Edwards, Elizabethton, and Terry Smith, Johnson City; two nieces; several great-nieces and nephews; his ex-wife and special friend, Gayle Ashley, Johnson City; six brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law.
Graveside services for Mr. Ashley will be conducted at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, November 5, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by the Boone Dam VFW Honor Guard Detail. The family will greet friends at the funeral home from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. Wednesday, then go in procession to the cemetery.
