Dr. Haymond “Doc” Norris Thompson

Dr. Haymond “Doc” Norris Thompson, 85, of Elizabethton, passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2014, at Hillview Health Center.
Mr. Thompson was born September 19, 1929 in Bradford, Ark., a son of the late William Eugene and Winnie Pollard Thompson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Nelda Thompson; a brother, George Thompson; and a sister, Janet Harrington, and her husband, Ted Harrington.
Haymond was a graduate of Palmer Chiropractic College, Davenport, Iowa, where he started his practice in 1971. Haymond was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where he served as Assistant Chairman of the Brotherhood, Assistant Sunday School Director, Assistant Church Treasurer and he also served on the outreach committee. Haymond loved his church, his pastor and his wonderful church family.
Haymond was a great husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend to all who knew him. He was a member of the Lions Club for years, and served on the Housing Board Committee for years.
Haymond is survived by his wife of 28 years, Judy Treadway Thompson, of the home; a daughter, Charlotte Berryman and husband, Steve, Menton, Ala.; sons, Mark Thompson and wife, Kathy, Madison, Ala., Mike Thompson and wife, Revell, Phoenix, Ariz., Chad McClelland and wife, Tena, Johnson City; an adopted son, Jeff Aycock and wife, Laura, Elizabethton; two grandsons, Rodney Krone of Alabama and Michael Thompson, Phoenix, Ariz.; granddaughters, Tiffany Olive and husband, Jason, Phoenix, Ariz., Bry Norris and husband, Josh, of Alabama, Krysten Thompson of Michigan, Annette Alexander, Phoenix, Ariz., and Madison McClelland, Johnson City; one brother, Robert E. Thompson and wife, Merilee, Phoenix, Ariz.; a sister-in-law, Ella Jean Thompson of Arkansas; a brother, Paul Stout and wife, Betty, Elizabethton; Dave Rider and wife, Deanna, Elizabethton; nephew, Jimmy Thompson and wife, Susie, of Colorado; Teresa and Dale Hensen of Arkansas; Kim and Morris Stewart, Las Vegas, Nev.; Betsy and Brett Waltner of Kansas; and Kara and Will Hathaway, Phoenix, Ariz.
A service to honor the life of Dr. Haymond “Doc” Norris Thompson will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 8, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Dr. Joe Sorah officiating. Music will be under the direction of Elmer Sams Jr. and Glenn Gouge, with Debbie Teague, pianist. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 12 until 2 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service, or at the residence at anytime. The graveside service will be conducted following the funeral service at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Chad McClelland, Matt King, Mike Williams, Jeff Aycock, Bill Robinson, Ryker Young, Shaun Witten, Jason Witten, Ryan Witten, David Bass and Richard Culver. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Bryant, Mike McAdams, John Treadway, Larry Treadway, Joe Collins, Mack McClelland, Bennie Grindstaff, Paul Stout, Gene Sams, Elmer Sams, Wes Frazier, Joe Culver, Don McKeehan and Dave Rider. Some very special thanks to some special people in his life, Angie Barker, Angie Renfro, Lustus and Judy Woods, Dr. James Ross, E.R. Dr. Shane Adams, his Sunday School Class, Ethan Thomas, the EHS Football Team and Hillview Nursing Home and Staff.
