Jerry Jr Vines, 65, of Elizabethton, went to his eternal home to be with his Heavenly Father and beloved wife and family, after an extensive illness, from his residence. He was the son of the late Lee Monroe and Grace Henegar Vines. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rheba Peters Vines; four sisters, Yvonne Crumley, Blanch Mosler, Louise Austin and Vergie Vines; four brothers, Jack Vines, Porter Vines, Robert Vines and Harry Vines; a sister-in-law, Janice Vines; and a grandson, Justin Stout.
Mr. Vines was retired from Allied Metals and was a member of Watauga Valley Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include two brothers, Paul Vines, Hickory, N.C., and Wayne Vines, Elizabethton; a faithful sister, Elizabeth V. Buck, Elizabethton; two sons, Jeff Stout and wife Debbie, and Glenn Dale Stout and wife Rose, all of Elizabethton; four grandchildren, Tracie Stout, Melissa Thompson and husband Denny, Samatha Hopson and Jared Arnold; two great-grandchildren, Savannah Grindstaff and Jacob Stout; and two special nieces, Phyllis Burrough and Linda Crumley. Several other nieces and nephews also survive.
A graveside service for Jerry Jr Vines will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, November 7, in the Blevins Cemetery with Rev. Bill Greer and Rev. Ray Colbaugh officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 until 1 p.m. Friday at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, prior to the graveside service, or at the residence at anytime. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Vines and members of Watauga Valley Freewill Baptist Church. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
