Donna Sue Markland, 52, Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord, Friday, Nov. 7, 2014 in the Johnson City Medical Center.
Donna was born in Washington County and had lived in Carter County for several years.
She was a graduate of Daniel Boone High School. She had coached Basketball and Softball teams. She was active in the PTA at Happy Valley High School.
Donna was an active member of Milligan Free Will Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a son: David Scott Markland and her mother, Christine Atkins Barnett. To us, she was the “Worlds Greatest Mom”. Through out her life Donna was known for showing love and kindness to not only her family, but to friends or to anyone who had a need.
Survivors include her husband of 36 years: Raymond Eugene Markland. Two Daughters & Sons-in-Law; Cynthia & Robert Dugger, Johnson City and Mandie & Harley Gillin, Elizabethton. Three Grandchildren: Austin Dugger, Noah Gillin and Blake Gillin, Her father: Joseph Barnett, Gray. Three Brothers: Joseph Barnett, Jr. and wife Lisa, Jonesborough, Allen Barnett and wife Missie, Elizabethton and Wesley Barnett and wife Robin, Johnson City. One Sister: Mary Barnett Burrow and husband Lawson, Gray. Several nieces & Nephews including a special niece: Diana Barnett.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Mark Street officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 11, 2014 in Washington County Memory Gardens. Music will be provided by Todd Price and April Pitman and Joel Street, Pianist. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the 2900 ICU and 5300 Wing of Johnson City Medical Center and Dr. Maria Garcia for the excellent care that Donna received. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family and the residence.
Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Tuesday to go to the cemetery. Condolences may be e-mailed to mfc@chartertn.net.
Memorial Funeral Chapel is serving the Markland family. (2nd Timothy 4-7: “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.”)
