Ethel Tolley Hayes

Ethel Tolley Hayes, 83, of Elizabethton, passed away Friday, November 7, 2014, at Johnson City Medical Center.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Dave and Julie Hilman Tolley.
Ethel was a graduate of Hampton High School. She retired from Siemens.
Mrs. Hayes was a member of Little Doe Free Will Baptist Church but attended Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dayton E. Hayes, December 23, 1998; a grandson, Gary Wayne Johnson II; two brothers, Phillip and Zeke Tolley; and a sister, Ruth Tolley.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Gary Johnson, Elizabethton, with whom she had made her home for the past six years; her grandson and his wife, Wesley and Alison Johnson, Elizabethton; her great-granddaughter, Josie; her brother, Raymond Tolley, Elizabethton; her nephews, Adrian Tolley, Billy Tolley, Dean Tolley, Douglas Tolley, Zeke Tolley Jr., Scotty Hayes, Jeff Hayes and Mark Hodge; her nieces, Carol Sullivan and Lorie Hodge; her sisters-in-law, Mary Tolley and Shirley Hayes; her brother-in-law, Joe Hodge; her cousins, including her special cousin, Thelma Hite; and her special friend and neighbor, Margie Ashley.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hayes will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, November 9, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Randy Johnson and the Rev. Harold Campbell officiating. The Eulogy will be given by Alison Johnson. Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Adrian Tolley, Billy Tolley, Dean Tolley, Douglas Tolley, Zeke Tolley Jr., Scotty Hayes and Joseph Greenwell. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of the 2700 ICU Unit at Johnson City Medical Center and Dr. Shoba. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at the residence of her daughter, Patsy and Gary Johnson.
