Mary Evelyn Bowers Bennett

Mary Evelyn Bowers Bennett, 89, of Elizabethton, passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2014, at Life Care Center of Elizabethton.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Luther A. and Flaura Buckles Bowers.
Mrs. Bowers was a homemaker. She was a member of Blue Springs Christian Church. She loved to work in her flowers.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dairus Bennett; two sisters, Reva Angel and Margaret Campbell; and four brothers, Ola, Roy, Emmert and Darrell Bowers.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Penny and Ricky Campbell, Elizabethton; three grandchildren, Jermy Campbell and wife Nikki, Lynnett Whitehead and Casey Thomas and husband Daniel, all of Elizabethton; nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Stella Mae Brewer, Elizabethton, and Novella Massengill and husband Paul, Bluff City. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside services for Mrs. Bennett will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 12, in the Roy Bowers Cemetery with the Rev. Mark Potter officiating. Interment will follow the service. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 3:20 p.m. Wednesday, will be Jermy Campbell, Ricky Campbell, Dewey Bowers, Dairus Bowers, Willard Bowers and Mickey Campbell. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of Life Care Center and Judy Bowers. Friends may also visit with the family at the residence.
