Janice Hyder McCracken

Janice Hyder McCracken, 78, of Elizabethton, went home to her Lord and Saviour on Thursday, November 13, 2014, from her residence.
Janice was born in Adrian, Mich., but had lived most of her life in Carter County. She was a daughter of the late Robert and Betty Ann Cable Hyder. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Leslie Hyder; a sister, Maxine Hyder Treadway; and a brother-in-law, Dwight Treadway.
Janice was a member of Grace Baptist Church, where she worked in the church library. She loved her church family and was always willing to share her faith in the Lord. Janice always had a smile on her face and a song in her heart. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.
Janice was a former employee of State Farm Insurance, where she worked for many years, and retired from Project Access.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Theil McCracken, of the home; two sons, Greg McCracken and Alan McCracken and his wife, Misty, and grandchildren, Jacob and Miranda; nieces, Colleen McCracken, Leanne Colquit, Judy Fleenor, Terri Knapp and Robin Ratliff; and nephews, Leslie McCracken and Dwight Treadway II.
A service to honor the life of Janice Hyder McCracken will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 15, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Chris Hughes officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 12 until 2 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service, or at the residence at anytime. The graveside service will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Dwight Treadway II, Jacob McCracken, Jeff Clark, Nathaniel Treadway, Zach Treadway and Leonard Peters. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Grace Baptist Church. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers, may make donations to the Library Fund of Grace Baptist Church, 1114 Broad Street Ext., Elizabethton, TN 37643; or to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
