Ruth Alice Norris Elliott

Ruth Alice Norris Elliott, 89, Elizabethton, passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2014, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital after an extended illness.
A native of Johnson County, she was a daughter of the late Guy David and Gladys Greenwell Norris. She had lived most of her life in Elizabethton.
Ruth attended Watauga Academy and graduated from Elizabethton High School in 1944. She took her nursing training at the Cadet Nursing School, Baptist Hospital, Nashville. She worked at the former Carter County Memorial Hospital for over 30 years.
Ruth was a member of the Elizabethton Senior Citizens and Grace Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Silas Wayne Elliott, in 1996, and a sister, Rudene Forrester.
Survivors include three children and their spouses, Kathy and Roy Dula, Sandra and Roy Miller and Gary and Karen Elliott, all of Elizabethton; six grandchildren, Kristi Haws and husband Carter, Eric Miller, Jason Elliott and wife Michele, Suzanne Elliott and Chris Runion, Mark Dula and wife Taylor and Erin Dula; six great-grandchildren, Graham, Gretchen, Tori, Karragan, Sara and Kayleigh; two nieces, Judy and Jeri; and her roommate at Ivy Hall Nursing Home, Marilyn Birchfiel and family.
Funeral services for Mrs. Elliott will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 30, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Dr. Kenneth Jordan officiating. Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Jason Elliott, Chris Runion, Eric Miller, Mark Dula, Graham Haws and Teddy Greenwell. Honorary pallbearers will be friends and neighbors of Walker Street and her co-workers and friends of the former Carter County Memorial Hospital. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Judy Deloach and caregivers at Ivy Hall Nursing Home for the excellent care that our mother received.
