Wilburn “Will” Robert Bowers, 80, of Elizabethton, passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2014, at his residence.
Mr. Bowers was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Clyde and Berthie Pearl Bowers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, John Richardson.
Mr. Bowers was retired from North American Rayon Corporation, after serving for over 40 years as a spinner. He was a United States Air Force veteran, having served in the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Marie Cable Bowers, of the home; his daughters, Roma McCravy, San Diego, Calif., Melissa Bowers Smith, Elizabethton, and Carolyn Bowers, Elizabethton; a son, Link Bowers and wife Christy, Pittsburgh, Pa.; three grandchildren, Nicolas McCarvy, Los Angeles, Calif., Robert Smith, Winston-Salem, N.C., and Mitchell Bowers, Pittsburgh, Pa.; his half sister, Dolly Mae Richardson; and brother and sisters-in-law, Burl and Teresa Cable, Elizabethton, Arbula Church, Elizabethton, and Frances and Ben Stemp, Jonesborough. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A graveside service for Wilburn “Will” Robert Bowers will be conducted at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, December 2, at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday to go in procession.
