Eric E. Bowman, 36, 616 W. Maple Street, Johnson City, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, December 2, 2014, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. He was a native of Johnson City.
Mr. Bowman was the General Manager of Captain D’s in Elizabethton. He enjoyed working with children at the Johnson City Family Skate Center, hiking, music, comic books and was a talented artist. Eric enjoyed and loved his family.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ray and Tina Bowman-Norris, and an aunt, Cindy Owens.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Renee Bowman; a son, Harrison Bowman; a daughter, Chloe Bowman; his mother and father-in-law, Mary and Tim Phillips of Johnson City; his father, Chuck Bowman of Kingsport; his mother, Gail Greear and husband, Jonathan of Johnson City; a step-father, Richard Swartz of Johnson City; three brothers, Jason Owens, Michael Swartz and wife, Rachel, and Clayton Bowman; a sister, Tina Bowman; a sister-in-law, Haley Phillips; extended family, Jim and Kathy Pepper, the entire Captain D’s family and the Johnson City Family Skate Center employees and children; his adopted brothers, Greer Goodman, Zach Kaskell and Brad Jones; a niece and a nephew; also his friend and dog, Vader.
Funeral services for Mr. Bowman will be conducted at 7 p.m. Saturday, December 6, in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City, with Rev. Jeff Millsaps officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until the service hour. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 7, at Roselawn Memory Gardens, Johnson City. Active pallbearers will be Tim Phillips, Randy Medley, Zach Kaskell, Greer Goodman, Brad Jones, Jordan Moody, Clayton Bowman and Jim Pepper. Honorary pallbearers will be all of the employees of Captain D’s. For those attending this service you are asked to meet at the funeral home Sunday by 1:30 p.m. to go in procession to the cemetery.
