Vera S. Scott

Mrs. Vera A. Scott, 90, of Johnson City, (Carter County), went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, December 3, 2014, at NHC Health Care, Johnson City, following an extended illness.
She was born in Carter County and was the daughter of the late William and Margie Hughes Miller. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Scott, in 1954; a son, David Scott; a beloved grandson, Steven Scott; and several brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Scott was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Elizabethton. She was also a former employee of the Carter County School System.
She is survived by a son, Dr. Lynn Scott and his wife, Sharon, Johnson City. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A graveside service to honor the life of Mrs. Scott will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 7, at Monte Vista Memorial Park, Johnson City, with Mr. Barry Pettit, minister, officiating. Music will be provided by Jon Shell, bagpiper. Active pallbearers will be selected from the men of East River Park Christian Church. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. Sunday. The family extends a heartfelt and sincere thank you to the staff of NHC Health Care, Johnson City, and Caris Health Care for all the love and care shown to Mrs. Scott and to the family during her time there.
