Bernice Marie Chestnut

Bernice Marie Chestnut, 82, of Pine Ridge Care & Rehab Center of Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, December 17, 2014, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following an extended illness.
Mrs. Chestnut was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late Dana and Vertie L. Taylor Hardin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John M. Chestnut, in 1994, and a brother.
Mrs. Chestnut was a graduate of Happy Valley High School and had formerly worked at an area bank and finance company. She had also worked as a caregiver at Appalachian Christian Village and other facilities. She was a former member and pianist at Big Springs Baptist Church and presently was a member of Lynn Valley Baptist Church. She loved playing hand bells at Pine Ridge Care & Rehab Center and loved to participate in all of the nursing home activities.
Survivors include her caregiver, Kathy Lyons Wilson, of Elizabethton.
A graveside service to honor the life of Bernice Marie Chestnut will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 20, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Rev. Bryan Smith officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 9:50 a.m. Saturday. Friends may call at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, at anytime, after noon on Friday, December 19.
