Patti K. Rasar, 65, of Johnson City, passed away suddenly at Johnson City Medical Center on Tuesday, December 16, 2014.
She was born on December 12, 1949, in Elizabethton, Tenn., but some of her happiest times were lived in Johnson City.
Patti was loved by many people and she touched the lives of everyone around her during her teaching career and throughout her life. She taught school at both Midway Elementary and Hunter Elementary School where she was loved by teachers and students alike. She retired from teaching to help with the family business in 1984, General Machine & Tool Co., Inc.
Patti retired in 2006, which led to many adventures in travel and making many wonderful memories with her family and friends. She was also happy to be a part of the YA YAS, a group consisting of good friends that met regularly to eat, laugh and share the great life she had. She often spoke of how much she loved this group of girls and never missed a moment to tell Billy or Comora how much she loved them and how proud she was to be their mom. She had a zest for life, which will be sorely missed by everyone around her. She was also mom to Schatzi, a Standard Parti Poodle, that was laughingly called a “parti poodle for a party mama.” Schatzi loved her and spent his time creating antics and games to keep her on her toes. Those who knew Patti will quickly let you know how special she was and how fancy and pretty she always looked. Not only was she pretty on the outside, but had the soul of an angel shining through her bright green eyes. Patti loved sharing time with her special companion and friend, Carroll Boone. The two of them had so much fun together and shared that fun with the people around them.
Survivors include her daughter, Comora Tolliver (Britton), her son, Billy Gentry, her sister, Susan Ready (Bob), nephews, Johnny Rasar (LeaAnn), Mike Peters and Allen Christian, her niece, Lee Anna Rasar, her sister-in-law, Marilyn Rasar, her special Aunt Kate Adams, her special cousin, Matilda Green, her very special friend and companion, Carroll Boone, and special friends, Kevin and Pam Bowling, Darlene Verran, Kathy Dayton, Pam Rymer, Arlene Moffit, Lisa Jones, Peggy Graybeal and daughter Lorent and Margaret Sullinger.
Patti was preceded in death by her parents, Snyder and Mary Rasar, her sister, Lucy Peters, her brothers, John N. Rasar and Earnest “Black Cat” Rasar, her Aunts Matilda Bowen and Agnes Zahn, and Uncle Tom Buck.
A service to honor the life of Patti K. Rasar will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, December 21, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Dr. Don Marshall and Dr. Tim Wallingford officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mr. Dennis Laws. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, prior to the service, or at the residence of a friend, Carroll Boone, at anytime. Patti’s wishes were to be cremated, and a private disposition will be held at a later date. The family requests flowers in lieu of donations, as she was so fancy and special.
