Kenneth Raymond “Gov” Dunn, 62, of Elizabethton, Tenn., went home to be with his Heavenly Father, Friday, December 19, 2014, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late Raymond Dunn and Carrie Calloway Dunn Carley.
Mr. Dunn was a machinist at Snap-On Tools in Elizabethton. He was a member of Pleasant Beach Baptist Church and had formerly served as a deacon of First Baptist Church for eight years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Rev. Horace Bowers.
Survivors include his wife, Rowena Bowers Dunn, of the home; his children, Kenneth “Daniel” Dunn and wife Teresa, Erwin, David N. Dunn and wife Jessica, Jonesborough, and Dianna G. Dunn, Elizabethton; grandchildren, Chaz Deakins, Alyssa Deakins, Zachariah Dunn, Caleb Rosenbalm and Karleigh Dunn; great-grandchildren, John Ethan Deakins, Saysha Harper and Zander Harper; his siblings, Wayne Dunn and wife Tina and Sharon Smith and husband Danny; his mother-in-law, Violet G. Bowers; and his brother-in-law, Jonathan Bowers, all of Elizabethton.
A service to honor and celebrate the life of Kenneth Raymond “Gov” Dunn will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, December 22, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Pastor Daniel Dunn and Pastor Mark Fowler officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, prior to the service. The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 23, in the Emmert Cemetery with Rev. Frank Osborne officiating. Active pallbearers will be Mark Smith, Jonathan Bowers, Danny Smith, Daniel Dunn, David Dunn and Dianna Dunn. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
