William “Al” Broome

William “Al” Broome, 59, of Elizabethton, passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2015, at Johnson City Medical Center, following an extended illness.
Mr. Broome was the son of Billy P. Broome, Elizabethton, and the late Margaret Waechter Broome. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.
Mr. Broome was a native of Washington County, Tenn., but had lived in Carter County most of his life, except for having resided for approximately 10 years in Bluffton, S.C. He was self-employed in home improvements and attended St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. He loved playing basketball, golf and being with family and friends.
Survivors, in addition to his father, include his wife, Lisa Broome, Bluffton, S.C.; one son, Isaiah A. Broome, Elizabethton; two step-daughters, Lucy Webb and husband Jeremy, Beauford, S.C., and Amie Trotter, Kingsport, Tenn.; one stepson, Josh Trotter, Denver, Colo.; a granddaughter, Autumn Kate Broome, Johnson City; and one sister, Teresa Ann Cole, Elizabethton. Several aunts, uncles and cousins, one niece, two nephews, four-great nieces and one great-nephew also survive.
A service to honor the life of William “Al” Broome will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, January 5, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Father Dennis Kress officiating. The graveside service will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Tyler Fleming, Keith Bowers Sr., Dale Fair, Danny “Pert” Jenkins, Michael Jenkins, David Sellers, Terry Lewis, David Bush, Danny Wilkins, Larry Merritt, Rick Broome, Tom Corbett, Bubba Broome, Ron Kirby, Steve Cornett, David Smith and Dennis McKesson. Honorary pallbearers will be Brett Cole, Ben Cole, Jeremy Webb and the Elizabethton High School Class of 1973. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, January 4, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Imagination Library of the Elizabethton/Carter County Library, 201 N. Sycamore Street, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
